This Staff Nurse RN role provides nursing care to patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center. The position assumes total responsibility for patient care according to physician orders and center policies, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of nursing standards and regulatory requirements. The role requires current PA RN licensure and advanced certifications such as ACLS and PALS.
Daily duties include assisting with preoperative processes, surgical case counting, and maintaining aseptic technique. The nurse assesses patient understanding, identifies desired outcomes, and adjusts care plans based on patient and family data. Effective communication and thorough documentation ensure continuity of care.
The nurse collaborates with surgeons and staff, anticipating needs during procedures and responding to emergencies. Accountability is demonstrated through safe judgment and flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Efficient turnover times and strict adherence to patient identification and surgical site marking protocols are critical.

Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- Current PA State RN License or compact license.
- CPR certification required.
- ACLS certification required.
- PALS certification required within 180 days of hire.
- Minimum one year of experience in the operating room as a circulating RN.
- Strong medical surgical nursing and assessment skills.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the provision of nursing care to patients in an Ambulatory Surgical Center setting, assuming total responsibility for patient care.
- Verbally reports pertinent information to appropriate staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Legibly documents information in the patient record and signs using appropriate professional title.
- Assesses the level of understanding and expectations of care, and identifies desired patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates proper preoperative process, including communication and report.
- Demonstrates proper aseptic technique and procedure for surgical case counting.
- Demonstrates proper patient identification verification and surgical site identification per policy.
- Anticipates surgeon’s needs during surgical procedures.
