About this role

As a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) at The University of Vermont Health Network Home Health & Hospice, you will support clients in staying home by providing non-medically directed personal care. Your day-to-day work involves assisting clients with housekeeping, meal preparation, grocery shopping, bathing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and transfers, including the use of lifts. Experience is not required, as we provide a comprehensive training program that will allow you opportunities for growth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of the University of Vermont Health Network Home Health & Hospice PCA Training program (1 day for experienced recruits or full training for recruits with no previous experience)
  • Successful completion of PCA coursework and passing the required exam
  • Maintain satisfactory standing with the Adult Abuse Registry, Child Abuse & Neglect Registry, Vermont Criminal Information Center, and OIG
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have a reliable, registered vehicle with insurance as required by the organization

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in staying home by providing non-medically directed personal care
  • Assist clients with housekeeping, meal preparation, and grocery shopping
  • Help with bathing, grooming, toileting, and other personal hygiene tasks
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, including the use of lifts
  • Build trusting relationships based on listening, empathy, and understanding
  • Personify the qualities of excellence and professionalism in all areas of work
  • Complete required PCA coursework and pass the exam with support from the organization
