Children's Mercy seeks a Transport Staff Nurse to deliver critical care during ambulance, air and ground transports for neonatal and pediatric patients. The role operates within a CAMTS accredited team handling complex cases including ECMO and therapeutic cooling.

Direct patient care begins with assessment, intervention and stabilization that promotes safety and optimal outcomes on every transport. Documentation maintains continuity while the nurse serves as a clinical resource to referring and accepting providers.

The team is cross-trained in neonatal and pediatric transport with an RN/RT/EMT configuration and responds 24 hours a day. Approximately 6,000 transports occur each year across Missouri, Kansas and beyond from the only free-standing children’s hospital between St. Louis and Denver.

Requirements

Willingness to receive seasonal influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.
Willingness to be vaccinated against MMR, varicella and Tdap if non-immune or without evidence of vaccination since 2005.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care through assessment, intervention and stabilization for the critically ill transport patient which promotes safety and optimal patient outcomes.
Promotes a positive relationship with referring/accepting healthcare providers and serves as a clinical resource for the education and consultation needs of the healthcare team.
Promotes safe, efficient, family-centered care to transport patients.
Promotes a continuation of patient care through documentation.
