About this role
Compass Palliative Care is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a 4-month inpatient coverage assignment beginning late July 2026. This part-time role provides palliative services in the hospital setting in the Culver City area, offering flexibility and clinical support.
The position involves Monday through Friday rounding for 3-4 hours daily with flexible hours. The practitioner manages a specific patient load, performing assessments, defining diagnoses, and documenting treatment plans. They also provide patient and family education and actively participate in departmental activities to improve training methods.
Our palliative program is run by experienced and board-certified physicians who take pride in providing training and in-service education to their staff. They believe in the advancement of their staff as well as creating the best possible outcomes for patients.
This short-term assignment is ideal for clinicians seeking a meaningful inpatient opportunity with flexibility and strong clinical support. There is an option for continued per diem work after the assignment ends. Clinicians will work alongside a supportive team dedicated to quality care.
Requirements
- Active California Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (AANP or ANCC) or Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
- Current DEA registration.
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hospital inpatient setting.
- Ability to provide compassionate palliative care to patients and families.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and provide palliative care to best treat the patient.
- Define and document patient diagnoses.
- Notate findings and treatment course in patient chart, including follow-up notes.
- Provide patient and family education and management.
- Assure all patients are completely satisfied.
- Actively participate in departmental activities to improve training methods and achieve company goals.
- Manage a specific assigned patient load.
