About this role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Maternal and Child Health Nurse to deliver high-quality, holistic care through a family-centred approach. Working with families of children aged 0–6 years, you will play a key role in promoting optimal health and wellbeing in line with Maternal and Child Health Service Guidelines.
In this role, you will identify, assess and support children and families who may benefit from additional intervention or referral. You will also strengthen community connections by fostering social networks, supporting playgroups and bringing families together.
You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working closely with colleagues across Family & Children’s Services and the broader Council. Our team is committed to professional growth and development, providing opportunities to work across specialised programs such as Enhanced Maternal and Child Health, Sleep and Settling Outreach and Special Care Nursery liaison.
Rotations into these programs will be supported and tailored according to your experience within MCH practice, ensuring you feel confident and well-prepared. We have a full-time permanent role and a part-time 0.8 FTE permanent role available, with a range of flexible work options for the right candidate.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of family dynamics and societal complexities
- Experience working with families from a broad spectrum of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
- Demonstrated understanding of Child and Family Violence Information Sharing Schemes and risk assessment frameworks
- Well-developed skills in MS Office Suite, Child Development Information Systems (CDIS), and Electronic Data Management Systems
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered nurse and a registered midwife
- Recognised qualifications in Maternal and Child Health nursing
