About this role

Beaumont Hospital is seeking Staff Nurses to join the Operating Theatre and Perioperative Complex at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dublin. This role is central to delivering high quality patient centred care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings.

Day-to-day, you will prepare clinical areas for receiving perioperative patients, complete all safety checks, and assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care for each patient. You will develop specialist skills in scrub, circulating, anaesthetic, or recovery nursing as assigned.

Working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, you will establish and maintain strong working relationships aimed at delivering a high standard of care. You will collaborate with colleagues to coordinate patient care, ensuring adherence to NMBI standards and Beaumont Hospital policies and procedures.

This permanent or temporary role offers the opportunity to develop additional clinical skills pertinent to the specialty within a supportive environment. The post holder is accountable for their own practice and is expected to maintain high standards of patient safety and quality care.

Requirements

  • Be accountable and responsible for own actions and know the content of own Scope of Practice for Nursing and Midwifery
  • Adhere to the NMBI Code of Professional Conduct and Beaumont Hospital policies, guidelines, and competencies relevant to practice
  • Ability to work within scope of practice at all times as outlined by the NMBI
  • Ability to assess patient condition on an ongoing basis and communicate relevant changes to the nurse in charge
  • Ability to actively participate in patient care and perform procedures accurately, completely, and safely in line with hospital policies
  • Capability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a high standard of care
  • Commitment to maintaining patient and professional confidentiality and data protection

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of and work in adherence to all Beaumont Hospital Standard Operating Procedures and policies
  • Develop specialist knowledge and skills of nursing practice relating to scrub, circulating, anaesthetic, or recovery nursing
  • Ensure the highest possible standards of patient care and patient safety are maintained in line with national and local policies and evidence based practice
  • Prepare clinical areas for receiving perioperative patients and complete all safety checks in line with local and national policy
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised high quality patient care pre-, intra-, and post-operatively
  • Collaborate with all members of the multidisciplinary team to plan and coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and legible clinical and legal documentation in accordance with national and local policies
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff and recommend changes that will enhance patient safety

  • Appointment on Staff Nurse Salary Scale (€38,166 - €56,592) in line with Government pay policy
