Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for our Special Care Nursery. This part-time evening shift role focuses on providing comprehensive neonatal care to newborns requiring closer monitoring.
Duties include performing comprehensive assessments of the neonate and understanding normal newborn transitional care such as thermoregulation, glucose monitoring, and respiratory status. The nurse plans and delivers care to newborns with complications, identifies patient needs from objective data, and implements appropriate nursing actions.
The role requires working within a multidisciplinary team and involving parents in planned care and expected outcomes. Nurses chart precise observations using Focus Charting on Flow Sheets and provide knowledgeable patient reports to ensure continuity.

Requirements
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Delaware required.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
- At least 2-3 years' experience in NICU/Special Care Nursery required.
- BLS required.
- NRP within 6 months of employment.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to hospital nursing practice standards and demonstrate appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Perform comprehensive assessments of the neonate.
- Display understanding of normal newborn transitional care including thermoregulation, glucose monitoring, and respiratory status.
- Plan and deliver care to newborns with complications.
- Identify patient needs based on objective data and ensure appropriate documentation.
- Implement appropriate nursing actions based on identified patient needs.
- Discuss planned patient care and expected outcomes with parents and document accordingly.
- Instruct parents in follow-up care and activities for transfer or discharge, evaluate understanding, provide written materials, and document.
