About this role

This role manages the clinical aspect of a satellite clinic, ensuring the coordination of patient care and a smooth, safe patient flow. The Senior Staff Nurse works closely with the Patient Relations Supervisor and the Director of the Satellite Clinic to maintain high standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities include performing age-specific patient assessments, planning and prioritizing care based on individual needs, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team. The role also involves supervising staff nurses and care assistants, coordinating clinical pathways, and initiating appropriate transfer plans.

The position is based at the Al Khawaneej Clinic, part of American Hospital Dubai, where you will help create a safe and friendly environment for patients and families. You will maintain effective communication between patients, nurses, and physicians regarding follow-up care and instructions, and participate in unit-based Continuous Quality Improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Performs continual critical care assessment of patient and family's physical and psychological needs.
  • Recognizes subtle cues to anticipate potential problems.
  • Documents all relevant data in the medical record according to hospital/departmental standards.
  • Ensures staff nurses' competencies as well as life support courses are up to date.
  • Performs safe handling and administration of Narcotic/Controlled and Semi-Controlled Drugs as directed by policies and procedures.
  • Maintains clinical and professional competency based on the latest research and established standards of practice.
  • Maintains updated service-specific competencies according to guidelines.
  • Provides supervision and advice to nursing staff regarding patient enquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the clinical aspect of the clinic including ensuring the coordination of patient care and smooth and safe patient flow.
  • Provides age-specific patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process.
  • Performs patient assessment using appropriate, problem-focused, and age-specific assessment techniques.
  • Coordinates and plans critical care/clinical pathways and prioritizes care based on individual needs, revising the care plan as necessary.
  • Assists staff nurses and care assistants in planning, implementing, and evaluating direct patient care.
  • Ensures accurate nursing documentation is maintained according to hospital policy and procedures.
  • Maintains effective communication between patients, nurses, and physicians regarding follow-up care and instructions.
  • Participates in and maintains clinic-specific Key Performance Indicator audits and other data, including nursing documentation and customer complaint reporting.
