About this role

This role works in a collaborative model including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff who care for emergency medicine patients across the organization's hospital network. Under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician, the provider assumes responsibility for primary and urgent medical management and emergency stabilization of all critically ill patients.

Day-to-day duties involve planning, implementing, and evaluating medical and nursing care in partnership with PCCs, staff nurses, and the discharge coordinator. The role also includes teaching residents and medical students, supporting staff development and education, and providing patient education and discharge planning.

Requirements

  • Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice, or license as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice
  • Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified, or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified (for NP track)
  • NCCPA Certified (for PA track)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
  • Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing or State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of job information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Reliable transportation as must be able to travel throughout and between facilities

Responsibilities

  • Works in a collaborative model with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff caring for emergency medicine patients
  • Assumes responsibility for primary and urgent medical management of patients
  • Performs emergency stabilization of all critically ill patients
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates medical and nursing care in association with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinator
  • Teaches residents and medical students as part of the clinical team
  • Supports staff development and education initiatives
  • Provides patient education and discharge planning
  • Works under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician
