About this role

Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes a nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, a 473-bed academic medical center, and a large outpatient clinic network. We are seeking a Staff Nurse to join our Cardiac Renal inpatient unit, working 0.6 FTE (6 shifts per pay period) with 8-hour night shifts and every other weekend.

In this role, you will provide and coordinate nursing care within our Patient and Family Centered Care model. Your daily work involves protecting, promoting, and optimizing health, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response.

You will partner directly with patients, their families, and significant others to document interventions and create individualized plans of care. The unit serves a diverse patient population with complex cardiac and renal conditions in a fast-paced, supportive academic environment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Ability to work 8-hour night shifts and every other weekend
  • Experience in an acute care setting, preferably with cardiac or renal patient populations

Responsibilities

  • Protect, promote, and optimize the health of patients on the cardiac renal unit
  • Prevent illness and injury through proactive nursing interventions
  • Alleviate suffering by treating the human response to illness and treatment
  • Partner with patients, their families, and significant others in care planning
  • Document nursing interventions and maintain an individualized plan of care for each patient
  • Monitor and manage patients with complex cardiac and renal conditions, including telemetry and fluid balance
  • Administer medications and IV therapies as prescribed, including cardiac drips and renal medications
  • Collaborate with physicians, nephrologists, cardiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to adjust care plans
