About this role
The Inpatient Float Pool offers a unique opportunity to work with a variety of pediatric patients across multiple units, filling in staffing gaps wherever they occur. Assignments are determined just a few hours before each shift begins, providing variety and adaptability in your daily work.
Intermediate Care Registered Nurses provide advanced illness management and health promotion for patients requiring high acuity care. You will utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to deliver safe, high-quality, comprehensive, family-centered, and age-appropriate nursing care.

This role offers the chance to grow your clinical skills across diverse units while working nights in a supportive, mission-driven environment. You will coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel and advocate for the needs of patients and their families.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- No experience necessary; on-the-job training provided.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
- Current Missouri RN license or eligibility to obtain one.
- BLS certification required (or obtained within orientation period).
- Willingness to receive seasonal influenza vaccine and other required immunizations (MMR, varicella, Tdap) or provide proof of immunity.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive, age-appropriate plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
- Meet the educational needs of the patient and family, utilizing appropriate principles of teaching/learning.
- Promote safe, efficient, family-centered care.
- Delegate nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications/competency and patient care requirements.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and attend education programs, unit meetings, and assigned committees.
- Coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary.
- Provide advanced illness management and health promotion for patients requiring high acuity care.
