About this role

This PRN Occupational Health Nurse role provides services under the client’s medical office services, including assessing patients’ health conditions, monitoring vital signs, and administering immunizations. The position also involves Workers Compensation follow-ups and screenings to support employee health and safety.

Day-to-day responsibilities include observing and evaluating patients’ physical status by taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and conducting thorough assessments. You will act as the nurse case manager for workers' compensation cases, administer medications per physicians’ orders, and maintain detailed patient records.

You will work with web-based computer systems, Medgate Occupational Health and Safety software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals is essential to coordinate patient care, and you must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent or emergent situations per protocol.

This on-call, part-time position is based in a professional hospital work setting, with shifts Monday through Friday totaling 24 hours per week. The role offers the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a focused occupational health environment while supporting a diverse patient population.

Requirements

  • Graduate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensed to practice in Fort Worth, Texas.
  • Certified as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist (CAOHC) Hearing Technician.
  • Certified to administer CPR and use an AED.
  • Must be able to pass a Tier one background check and any additional background checks as required by projects or clients.
  • Must possess problem-solving skills and exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all services normally offered under an Occupational Health Medical Office Services, including audiometry, spirometry screenings, immunizations, and worker’s compensation follow-up.
  • Observe and evaluate a patient’s physical status by taking vital signs, reviewing medical history, and conducting a thorough assessment.
  • Act as the nurse case manager for workers' compensation cases.
  • Work with web-based computer systems, Medgate Occupational Health and Safety software, and Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol.
  • Administer medications accurately and safely according to Physicians’ orders.
  • Maintain detailed patient records, including observations, interventions, and progress updates.
  • Maintain work area, exam rooms, and supplies.
