About this role

As a member of the Personal Care Home team, the Personal Care Home Aide assists residents by providing care that allows them to function at their highest level. Services are provided for residents over 18 years of age regardless of age, race, religion, and cultural background. Majority of services provided for elderly residents.

Assist residents with ADLs including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring. Help with medication administration and serve meals to assure adequate nutrition and hydration. Make rounds, anticipate needs, respond to call bells timely, and report changes in condition or behavior to supervisor.

Maintain a safe and clean environment while completing required documentation. Comply with all federal, state, and local government rules and regulations. Participate in performance improvement activities and attend staff meetings.

Training and certification provided upon hiring, including medication administration, CPR, First Aid, and direct care courses. Complete annual 12-hour training and Department-approved programs. Join the Guthrie team as part of a tradition of excellence in health care.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Maintain Medication Administration Certification
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Complete Department-approved medications administration course
  • Successfully complete department-approved diabetes education for blood glucose testing
  • Pass Department-approved direct care training course and competency test
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Ability to read, write, and understand written and oral communication

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with ADLs (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring)
  • Assist with medication administration
  • Assist in serving meals, assuring adequate nutrition and hydration for residents
  • Make rounds, anticipate residents' needs, and respond to call bells in a timely manner
  • Report to supervisor pertinent information including any changes observed in condition and behavior of resident
  • Assist in maintaining safe and clean environment
  • Complete required documentation, training and education to maintain certifications
