Alfred Health's Theatre Nurse Bank offers dynamic and challenging positions across three Operating Suite departments. Provide clinical expertise to surgical patients in major trauma or complex procedures. Casual bank roles suit those with Scrub Scout, Anaesthetics or Recovery experience seeking life balance.
As a clinical nurse, practice leads to excellence in patient care through patient relationships for best outcomes. Demonstrate core nursing values of patient-centred care, trust and respect in every interaction. Accountable for establishing and evaluating the patient’s plan of care with patients, carers and health care team.
Alfred Health Operating Suite provides specialist services including Trauma, Heart/Lung Transplantation for adults and paediatrics, Burns, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, ENT, Plastics and Vascular. Gain exposure to wide variety of surgical specialties. Supported by all other nursing positions in major tertiary hospital.
Team members receive education and support, opportunity to consolidate skills, and exposure to different theatre environments within supportive framework. Flexibility to choose your own shifts. Merger into Bayside Health on 1 January 2026 strengthens workforce with new training and career opportunities.
Requirements
- Registered Bank Nurse Grade 2 (ZU3-ZU11) Classifications
- Experience as Scrub Scout, Anaesthetics or Recovery
- Clinical expertise for major trauma and complex surgical procedures
- Accountability for establishing and evaluating patient plan of care
- Demonstration of patient-centred care, trust and respect
- Practice leading to excellence in patient care
- Current AHPRA registration as Registered Nurse
- Perioperative nursing skills in theatre environments
Responsibilities
- Work across three Operating Suite departments
- Provide clinical expertise to patients in major trauma or complex surgical procedures
- Establish relationships with patients to achieve best possible outcomes
- Evaluate the patient’s plan of care in partnership with patients, carers and health care team
- Demonstrate patient-centred care, trust and respect in interactions
- Assist as Scrub Scout in surgical procedures
- Support Anaesthetics procedures
- Care for patients in Recovery
