About this role
The Registered Nurse protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities while preventing illness and injury and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy for individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with all standards of practice and professional development under the New York State Nurse Practice Act and United Health Services policies.
This per diem role focuses on pre- and post-operative care at the UHS Ambulatory Surgery Center at Wilson Place. The nurse assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients while serving as the primary or accountable nurse.
The position requires promoting a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care and safely administering medications using working knowledge of pharmacology. The RN also educates patients and families on health promotion and disease management using available resources.
Staff participate in the Nursing Shared Governance Model, support unit councils, engage in peer review, and integrate current evidence and nursing research into practice. The role provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students while completing all mandatory education requirements.
Requirements
- A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Current NYS RN License
Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse.
- Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy.
- Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
- Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies.
- Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council and contributing to peer review practices.
- Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice and provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
