The Pediatric Hospitalist Program with INTEGRIS Health Children's is seeking a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to provide 'fill-in' PRN coverage on a 24-bed Pediatrics unit at Baptist Medical Center. This variable shift position offers flexibility with day and evening hours.

The Nurse Practitioner provides medical consultation, routine patient care, and follow-up as directed, adhering to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate. Responsibilities include initiating detailed patient assessments, ordering diagnostic tests and medications, and performing routine procedures such as injections, suturing, wound care, and blood draws.

The role reports to the supervising physician and the Operations Manager Practice Management, working within a supportive hospitalist team. The position requires population-specific competencies and a commitment to evidence-based pediatric care.

This opportunity offers exposure to a dynamic acute care environment within a children's hospital, with the flexibility of PRN scheduling. The role contributes to the ongoing success of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program while allowing for professional growth in pediatric acute care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Oklahoma Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • National certification as a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and completes a detailed patient assessment.
  • Orders laboratory tests, radiological examinations, and other routine diagnostic procedures.
  • Diagnoses actual or potential health problems based on analysis of collected data and plans therapeutic intervention.
  • Orders and initiates appropriate medication, treatment, and consultation based on data analysis.
  • Performs routine procedures including injections, immunizations, suturing (not involving tendons, arteries, or nerves), wound care, venous and arterial blood draws, and managing simple conditions from infection, trauma, or other disease processes.
  • Educates patients regarding prescribed treatment and medications.
  • Provides medical consultation, routine patient care, and follow-up as directed.
