About this role
We’re seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to serve as an OR Circulator in our fast-paced, high-volume orthopaedic ambulatory surgery center. This role is central to ensuring patient safety, smooth surgical flow, and effective communication throughout the perioperative process.
The nurse prepares and verifies operating room setup for orthopaedic procedures while coordinating case flow. All necessary instruments, implants, and equipment must be available and functioning before each case begins.
Pre-op verification and consent checks are completed as the nurse serves as patient advocate, monitoring safety, comfort, and sterility. Close collaboration occurs with PACU, sterile processing, and supply chain teams to maintain workflow.
The position offers a supportive team environment focused on patient-centered orthopaedic care with no weekends, evenings, or holiday shifts required.
Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of North Carolina
- BLS certification (PALS and ACLS preferred)
- Minimum 1–2 years of circulating experience in an OR setting; orthopaedic surgery experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with ambulatory surgery workflows, EMR systems, and sterilization protocols
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills
- Team-oriented attitude with a calm, professional presence under pressure
Responsibilities
- Prepare and verify the operating room setup specific to orthopaedic procedures
- Coordinate surgical case flow and ensure all necessary instruments, implants, and equipment are available and functioning
- Conduct pre-op patient verification and consent checks
- Serve as patient advocate intraoperatively, monitoring safety, comfort, and sterility
- Support the surgical team by managing supplies, documentation, and communication
- Handle specimens accurately and ensure proper labeling and transfer
- Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards
- Collaborate closely with PACU, sterile processing, and supply chain teams
