About this role

Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) provides accessible, family-inclusive mental health care for infants, children, young people and their families. Operating across two streams (0-11 and 12-26 years), the service includes specialist care in perinatal, neurodevelopmental, eating disorders and outreach support.

As a senior mental health clinician, you will deliver clinical assessment, intervention, case-management and single session or brief therapy. You will also provide discipline-specific consultation to internal and external clinical services.

You will join a supportive, multi-disciplinary team that values respect, partnership and integrity. The team incorporates lived-experience peer workers and is committed to a family-focused, systemic approach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, OR Bachelor Degree in Nursing plus an approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
  • Demonstrated capability in providing a full range of mental health interventions at a senior level
  • Australian working rights
  • Experience working with children, young people and their families in a mental health setting
  • Knowledge of recovery-oriented, family-centred and trauma-informed practice

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment and intervention for children and young people experiencing emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties and their families
  • Manage a caseload and deliver case-management, single session and brief therapy
  • Offer discipline-specific consultation and assessment to clients and clinical services within and outside ICYAMHWS
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including peer workers to deliver intensive care mental health services
  • Support the development of treatment plans that incorporate a family-focused and systemic lens
  • Participate in regular professional supervision and reflective practice sessions
