About this role

Athena Care is currently seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for our Murfreesboro clinic. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides direct client care to patients. This includes medication management and counseling within scope of practice and experience.

The role involves psychiatric evaluation and counseling for individuals along with prescribing medications as appropriate. Documentation of services occurs in the electronic medical record consistent with standards of practice, internal policies, and regulatory requirements including HIPAA.

Providers participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours calls while maintaining licensure, supervision, and continuing education. Eligibility to participate in commercial insurance networks and Medicare is required for this position.

Knowledge of current standards of care and research is applied to improve practice and provision of care. The position follows appropriate practice guidelines and supports the clinic's mission through professional judgment and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program required.
  • Current, valid APRN license with specialty training in psychiatry issued by the state of TN required.
  • Board certification in psychiatry required.
  • Current, valid DEA registration required.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and current treatment options/best practices.
  • Two or more years of practice as a nurse practitioner preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluation and counseling to individuals.
  • Prescribe medications as appropriate.
  • Document services provided in the electronic medical record (EMR) consistent with standards of practice, internal policies of Athena Care, and HIPAA or other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate licensure, supervision, and continuing education requirements in a manner consistent with standards of practice.
  • Maintain knowledge of current standards of care and research in the field and apply knowledge to improve practice and provision of care.
  • Participate in on-call rotation of providers for after-hours calls.
  • Adhere to appropriate practice guidelines in provision of care.
