G71 is a Women’s Health Unit providing care for hysterectomies, repairs, vulvectomies, mastectomies, flap reconstructions, plastic surgery, and postpartum patients.

A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00pm-7:30am. Provide or assist with patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, weights, personal care, activities of daily living, transfers, pulse oximetry, point-of-care testing, dressing changes, monitoring devices, and Foley catheter removal. Report changes in patient conditions promptly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Nursing students required to have BLS through AHA prior to hire
  • Obtain BLS certification during new hire period if not held
  • Military experience considered

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN
  • Obtain vital signs, weights, and assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living
  • Assist with patient transfers and transport
  • Perform pulse oximetry and point of care testing
  • Change dressings and apply external monitoring devices
  • Remove urinary Foley catheters
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly
