About this role

Critical care registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require intensive care. They utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care for assigned patients in intensive care areas. Critical care staff nurses deliver patient and family education while advocating for their needs.

Staff nurses coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary and maintain a safe, comfortable, efficient, and family centered environment. They meet the educational and informational needs of the patient and family. This role focuses on promoting optimal patient outcomes for critically ill children.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (ADN) required
  • Bachelor's Degree (BSN) preferred for nurses hired after September 1, 2013
  • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • Licensed RN - Kansas
  • 1-2 years experience preferred
  • No experience necessary with on-the-job training

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the critically ill patient and family
  • Meet the educational and informational needs of the patient and family and advocate for their needs
  • Maintain an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family centered
  • Utilize current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge and improve nursing care quality
  • Provide patient and family education in intensive care settings
  • Coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary
  • Promote optimal patient outcomes through illness management and health promotion
