About this role

Under the supervision of the Detox Clinical Supervisor, the Agency Nurse oversees the nursing and medical needs of ATS clients. Responsible for quality of care, staff supervision and training, and compliance with agency policies and procedures, state licensing regulations and CARF accreditation standards. This role ensures high standards in a substance abuse detox environment.

Communicates with referral sources and other outside agencies regarding health and medical needs of ATS clients. Coordinates medical services provided for ATS clients. Provides ATS clients and staff with education sessions regarding health and medical issues.

Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and ad hoc member of the Clinical Team. Works closely with clinical supervisors and staff in managing client care. Contributes to safety protocols and team discussions on client treatment.

Focuses on client care issues related to substance use, including withdrawal and denial management. Builds knowledge of community referral resources and basics of psychiatric and medical nursing. Engages in ongoing staff training and policy adherence for program excellence.

Requirements

  • Possess current R.N. license
  • Knowledge and experience regarding client care issues related to substance use including withdrawal and denial
  • Knowledge of community referral resources
  • Basics of psychiatric and medical nursing
  • Effective communication and organization skills
  • State certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) preferred
  • National nursing specific substance abuse certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, current CPR and First Aid Certification
