The Residential Nurse provides direct nursing care to youth in a residential treatment setting. Key responsibilities include administering prescribed medications, conducting medical assessments, coordinating diagnostic testing, and delivering interventions as directed by licensed professionals. This role ensures consistent, high-quality care across the facility.

The nurse works closely with program staff to monitor youth health status and support individualized care plans. Responsibilities encompass maintaining accurate medical documentation compliant with agency policies and regulatory standards. Collaboration occurs during admissions, discharges, and crisis events for continuity of care.

As servant-leaders, nurses participate in training, facilitate education like CPR and First Aid, and provide on-call emergency support. Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience; experience in residential or pediatric settings preferred
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and current auto insurance (required for authorized driving status)
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to follow established nursing standards, policies, and procedures
  • Excellent documentation skills with strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage youth and families professionally
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in high-pressure or emotionally charged situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic health record (EHR) systems

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine health screenings, basic assessments, and nursing care to youth in accordance with licensing standards and nursing best practices
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed; maintain accurate medication records, inventory, and timely reorders
  • Coordinate external medical appointments and ensure timely follow-through on provider recommendations and prescribed treatments
  • Monitor and report youth health conditions to medical, clinical, and program staff; support development and implementation of individualized care plans
  • Maintain complete, up-to-date, and accurate nursing documentation, including medical histories, treatment records, incident reports, and regulatory paperwork
  • Support and enforce infection control procedures and ensure dietary needs and hydration plans are followed as prescribed
  • Collaborate with clinical and program staff during youth admissions, discharges, and crisis events to ensure continuity of care
  • Provide on-call support and respond to emergencies, including evacuation of youth during crises or natural disasters
